Seeking participants for a highly relevant study into how therapists use mobile applications in their clinical work

Location: University of British Columbia, Faculty of Education - Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, and Special Education
    Contact: Liliana Cortes, M.A., PhD Candidate, or phone/text at (604) 603 3912.

This dissertation seeks to explore the factors that influence the decision to integrate mobile applications (apps) as tools in the therapy when working with clients struggling with anxiety and related concerns. Your participation would involve one confidential interview (either in person or by phone). Please consider sharing your valuable insights on this topic in a confidential interview.
I would be interested in hearing from you if:
-You currently practice as a counsellor and see clients who struggle with anxiety or related concerns.
-You have used mobile applications as tools in your work with your clients; and if
-You are willing to talk about the factors that influenced your decision to integrate mobile applications into your work with clients.

Comprehensive Resource Model 4 Day Basic Certification Training with Lisa Schwarz

Location: St. Catharines Golf and Country Club, St. Catharines,

The Comprehensive Resource Model for the Treatment of Complex PTSD provides the neurobiological scaffolding that allows for fear responses to be extinguished while the client is fully present in the moment. The CRM provides the opportunity for re-connection to one's true self; to the meaning of the truth of one's life; and to the ability to embody love in one's actions. Remembering and reconnecting to our internal as well as ancestral resources and joy is as important to this process as is the integration of traumatic and painful memories through the removal of the distressing emotions they have been carrying. This method of resourcing allows for a healing alchemy: the experience of re-connecting to the innate resources in the soma within the context of our pain allows for the transformation of suffering from emotional and behavioral fight-flight-freeze to the manifestation of our spiritual purpose through action while living in a human, physical body. This is what we desire, what we are looking for, consciously or unconsciously.

Transforming the Experience-Based Brain: A Somatic Touch Model of Resolving Developmental Trauma Certification Series with Stephen Terrell, PsyD, SEP

    Location: St. Catharines, ON

Transforming the Experience-Based Brain (TEB) is focused on the lasting imprints of experiencinon-verbal Developmental Trauma and how the neurological regulation system is compromised. This compromised system develops defensive accommodations to over ride the missing pieces of development which affect the client's ability to learn, socially engage, use imagination, gain a greater protective of the world, and attachment. The students will understand and gain both knowledge and skills in how the neurological regulation system works and experience in applying tactile touch in building capacity in the system. This awareness of how the system responds to early ruptures is also powerful in repairing shock trauma in the client through the awareness that a stronger initial developmental platform supports the systems automatic healing to trauma.
Somatic Awareness brings forth the clinicians ability to recognize dysregulation in the client and touch brings forth a safe and effect way to work in the system without bringing forth more overwhelm. Even for those who don't use touch in their practice because of external restraints, this method of working with intention and attention can bring about a sense of healing and relief for your clients. Through experiences and process, the student will move through the healing process from understanding the basic physiology of trauma to more advanced skills of working within specific systems affected by early ruptures.

TEB is a learning process for anyone who works directly with trauma including but not limited to Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Psychotherapist, Social Workers, Somatic Experiencing Practitioners, Massage Therapist, Body Workers, Acupuncturist, Counselors, Hakomi Practitioners, Sensory Motor Practitioners, Play Therapist, Physical Therapist, and Occupational Therapist.

TEB is presented through a combination of lectures, videos, and actual experience of using somatic touch as clinician, client, and observer. By adding skills each module, the student will develop a greater awareness of working directly with neurobiological ruptures in the system and the ways that these early ruptures have affected the clients. We will also bring into focus Maslow's work on developmental platforms and integrate it with Porges work on Polyvagal System along with the impact regulation on the client's ability to self regulate.
